As a general rule, a colt is a horse under four years old, while a foal is a baby less than a year old. Hence, the colt is a later stage of the foal, while the foal is a beginning stage of a horse.

Thoroughbreds are bred for endurance more than quarter horses. Quarter horses just go a quarter of a mile, this is why they are known as quarter horses. On the other hand, thoroughbreds can run a mile or three with ease.

A neutered male horse is referred to as a gelding horse. In contrast, stallions are male horses that are reproductively active. Hence, the use of stallions is vital for reproduction, while gelding is used for working purposes.

Male horses that are uncastered and are meant for breeding purposes are called stallions. In contrast, female horses that are above the age of three are called mares. While stallions are aggressive, mares are calm by nature.

A primary difference between these two horses is that one is a wild animal originally from the United States, while the bronco originated in Mexico. One of them is not trained, hence cannot be domesticated. The broncos can be tamed easily.

Camels are neither faster than horses, nor are they too slow than horses. The difference in their average speed is only around 10 to 15 miles per hour. It is possible, however, to increase the speed of camels if they are trained to race.

Horses can sleep lying down. In fact this is completely normal for a horse to lay down. But, being huge in size they would not have the option to get up and run from hunters. Also, lying down for longer durations can cause stress on their vital organs. This is why they only lie down when they need REM sleep.

Horses are not color blind. They have Dichromatic vision that means their eyes have only two types of cone cells, in contrast to humans who have trichromatic vision. This is why horses can see some colors clearly, particularly, blue and green but they can’t see red.
