The skeletal system of a shark, on the other hand, is constructed entirely of cartilage. These fish are called “elasmobranchs,” which means “fish with cartilaginous tissues.” As a result, their entire body comprises a more elastic and flexible alternative to bones, making them much lighter and aiding in buoyancy.

It’s worth noting that sharks prefer to stay away from dolphins. Despite their cuteness and reputation for being playful, dolphins pose a hazard to these fishes. Dolphins are highly effective fighters who can easily defeat sharks in a fight. Sharks prefer to avoid Orcas, the largest dolphin family species known to hunt sharks.

Sharks, like other fish, are classified vertebrates, meaning they have a backbone. Therefore, sharks share the same spinal column as humans. However, the great surprise is that there is no indication that the vertebrae are comprised of bones. This is what distinguishes this fish.

It would be completely wrong to think that sharks cannot be pets. In fact, some sharks can be kept as pets. Regardless of how astonishing it may sound, Sharks are shy creatures, yet they will swim near you if they accept you. If you see a shark approaching with its jaws open, it’s a hint that you should tickle its tongue.

Sharks only have inner ears which allows them to hear. Their ears are nothing like what we humans have though. They don’t have an outer or middle ear but they do have an aural cavity. This cavity is connected to the mouth and can detect low frequency vibrations. 

Instead, sharks prefer to sleep at the ocean’s deepest depths, where the water is calmer. However, it is unknown why the majority of sharks favor this. On the other hand, Sharks do not have a set sleep pattern.

The gills of some sharks require constant movement in order for the water flowing over them to provide oxygen, but some sharks can move water through their respiratory system by pumping back and forth with their pharynx. They can therefore rest on the seafloor while still carrying on with their breathing.

Sharks can detect blood and are drawn to it. Although these are carnivorous animals, a small amount of blood is unlikely to elicit a shark-feeding frenzy. Contrary to popular belief, Sharks are not as fond of human blood as fish blood.

Baby sharks, like grown up sharks, have a full set of teeth. They become independent creatures as soon as they are born and swim away from their mothers. As a result, they are left to fend for themselves and their sharp teeth come in handy.

Goblin sharks are not dangerous at all, especially to human beings. Over the years, there have been rare reports of goblin sharks attacking humans unprovoked but this species is pretty harmless in general. It prefers to swim in deep waters and remains aloof for the most part.
